I was reading thru Ralph Parker's blog this morning, and he uses Gouache with both watercolor and oil style techniques. Figured that I'd try it, and on canvas, this technique is much better. In some places (the reflections) I've left the look of the thin watercolor application, and in the rest of the painting, I've used a more opaque application, like oils. AND bristle brushes instead of the watercolor brushes. Ah, much better. Isn't this a nice one?

I thought I'd try a gouache on the canvas, see how it worked. The blending is more tricky than on paper, maybe because of the canvas weave texture? I'm not sure. I do like being able to paint in the background.

What actually is nice about acrylics is that you can layer and layer, and layer, though you really can't blend anything much. This one has lots of layers.

I knew there was a reason I kept a bunch of tubes of Acrylics. You just never know.
I still have to work on subtle colors, since Acrylics tend to be very bright. Tricky ti mix correctly, I think.
