Light with Apples - SOLD

Light with Apples Oil on Linen Panel, 9" x 12" SOLD at $65.00 plus shipping. While I was painting this one, which is really about light and lost edges, I kept thinking of the little rhymne that goes: One for the Money Two for the Show Three to Get Ready, (but then in my head it was...) Go, Dogs, Go! I know that isn't right, but you know that children's book, Go, Dogs, Go! Can you tell that I live with kids? Thanks for looking.

Humility - SOLD

Humility Oil on Canvas Board, 10" x 12" SOLD My first self portrait, and it gives me great humility to post it. Looks like some old witchy woman, and the sad part is, not that it doesn't look like me, but oh goodness, that it DOES. At one point in the sketch, my brother popped out of the face, which was weird. "Oh, Hi Bruce, there you are!" My daughter says that the nose and face are too long, so next attempt, I'll give myself better light, and maybe be kinder (whatever helps, right?) Nothing much to do about the dumbo ears and the saggy bags, though. Sigh. Thanks for looking.

Fall Creek Scene - SOLD

Fall Creek Scene Watercolor Pencil on 140 lb Rough Richeson Paper, 8.5" x 11" Sold at $40.00 plus $5.00 shipping. A small departure today, since I got a new block of nice watercolor paper, and am working on some exercises for the online Watercolor Pencil Class given by Kate Johnson. This one took as much time as any watercolor, since it's all strokes of pencil, and then water added to the pigment. It still has a bit of sketchy feel to it, since some of the pencil marks are left showing. Done from a resource photo in the Wet Canvas library. Thanks for looking.

Promising Thoughts - SOLD

Promising Thoughts
Oil on Linen Board, 11" x 14"
SOLD at $80.00 plus shipping.
It's snowing tonight again. It snowed and slushed yesterday. My daughter shoveled today and we'll probably have to shovel again tomorrow. No wonder everyone here is thinking of green and warm, sunshine and soft skies right now. This one was just a delight to paint. I think that because linen is more expensive, I slow down and simply enjoy the feel of it under my brush. So satisfying. Thanks for looking.

Mug of Tea - SOLD

Mug of Tea Oil on Canvas Board, 6" x 8" SOLD at $20.00 plus shipping. I picked up this mug at a consignment shop, and I like the shape of it. It has Starbucks etched into the glass, but it's easily ignored. I've been thinking what to paint with it, so today I just made some tea, and set it on beige paper. This is more towards how I want to paint, realistic to a point, but still painterly, using the beauty of the oils themselves. Thanks for looking. As an aside: Welcome to the World, little miss Kayla, my newborn granddaughter!

Garlic Abstracted - SOLD

Garlic Abstracted Oil on Canvas Board, 10" x 12" Sold at $70.00 plus shipping. On this one I just tried to get the basic shapes and values. Big brushes and swishy strokes, lots of paint. It came out pretty stark, I think, but somehow I really like it, too. Thanks for looking.
