We had a nice class this morning, and even though I didn't paint today in class (except for a demo, and helping on student work) I didn't feel like painting this afternoon either. My yard is calling, weed me, weed me, and mow! So this is a quickie, and I'm outside.

I couldn't stand wasting a canvas, so this is the revision of a creek painting I did on May 14. It's almost completely changed, but it was nice to do a palette knife painting with color underneath. No pressure to cover every little nick and cranny.

One of my students requested magnolias for our class this week, and mentioned that she liked the one in the brochures for Michaels classes. So I found instructions for doing a magnolia on the teacher's pages at Grumbacher (who sponsors the painting classes) and here's what resulted. I'm pretty happy with it, and hope that my "girl-tribe" will enjoy the lesson also.

Five colors plus white. Warm and cool red, Ultramarine Blue, a deep green and Cad Yellow Medium.

I'm working on a larger, more complicated painting which is taking some time (one of my collectors' grandsons, fishing from a pier). So for a break, another cloud study, with an eye towards making the mountains fade into the sky.

This is done following a video by Martha Saudek, called Sunlight on Oak Creek. 
I've watched it before, but never painted with it. I think it's a good video for rocks.
